FAQ
Answers to the questions I hear most from small businesses and nonprofits. Don’t see yours? Get in touch.
Cost and timelines
Most GG Dev sites cost between $3,000 and $15,000. Price depends on the number of page templates, custom blocks, and features such as memberships, stores or registrations. I give you a fixed quote after a discovery call.
Most sites take 2-4 weeks from discovery call to launch. Smaller refreshes take 1-2 weeks. Timelines depend mostly on how quickly content and feedback come in.
Yes. Every project starts with a 40% deposit to reserve your spot on my calendar. You can pay the remaining 60% at launch, or split it into smaller payments every two weeks if that fits your budget better. For nonprofits, I can also phase a larger project to match your budget cycle or grant timeline.
Working together
Every project follows four steps: discovery and strategy, design and theme setup, custom blocks and editor setup, then testing, training and launch. See Services for details.
No. I can shape the design with you, or build from your designer’s Figma files. I work with designers regularly.
Yes. I do full rebuilds, block-based refreshes of existing sites, and ongoing fixes and improvements, including sites someone else built.
Yes. I partner with agencies as a contract WordPress developer, building custom themes, Gutenberg blocks and integrations from your designs. I can work behind the scenes as part of your team, or join calls with your clients when that helps. You keep the client relationship, and I keep your timelines.
Ownership, hosting and support
Yes. Once your project is paid in full, you own your theme, custom blocks, content and hosting account. Nothing is locked to me, so you’re free to work with any developer in the future.
I don’t host sites myself, but I’ll help you choose the right host for your budget and traffic, and set everything up for you. The hosting account is in your name, so you always have full control of your site.
Launch includes one week of support. After that, you can choose a monthly support plan or contact me as needed.
Editing and features
Yes. Every site uses custom Gutenberg blocks built for your content, so editing a page feels like filling in a form. Training is included at launch.
Custom blocks load faster, are easier to keep accessible, and stop editors from breaking layouts. One block library I built runs 49 healthcare websites from a single codebase.
Yes. I’ve built camp registration with waitlists, subscription-based job postings with WooCommerce, and paid content subscriptions. See Portfolio.
Accessibility, speed and search
Yes. Sites are built to WCAG 2.2 AA: color contrast, keyboard navigation and semantic HTML. I’m not a lawyer, so I can’t give legal guarantees about ADA compliance.
Yes. Hand-coded themes load only what each page needs. This site scores 96 on Google’s mobile PageSpeed test.
Yes. I audit sites to find out why they aren’t showing up in Google or in AI answers from tools like ChatGPT, and give you a ranked plan to fix it. See SEO and AI search audits.
