Overview

Wildlands Restoration Volunteers needed a scalable, accessible WordPress site to support volunteer programs, donations, event promotion, and long-form educational content. The project focused on creating a flexible content system that could grow with the organization while remaining easy for non-technical staff to manage.

Built a fully custom theme using semantic HTML, modern SCSS, and performance-focused architecture tailored to nonprofit storytelling and event content.

✅ Gutenberg Block Library
Developed reusable blocks for page banners, volunteer calls-to-action, program grids, and content sections, giving editors layout flexibility without page builders.

✅ Mega Menu & Navigation Structure
Implemented a custom mega menu system to support deep navigation across programs, resources, and community content.

✅ Structured Content with ACF
Used Advanced Custom Fields to manage structured data for events, sponsors, and programs while keeping the editing experience intuitive.

✅ Accessibility & Performance Optimization
Ensured WCAG-compliant color contrast, keyboard navigation, and fast load times across devices.
